The Theatre of Branches

Spaces for expression in the heart of the forest

The Theatre of Branches is our cultural space and a true source of inquiry. How can we have diverse artistic practices while respecting the forest? We are in inhabited areas that did not ask to be spectators of our exploits.

Creating in this place involves questioning what we call culture, spectacle, artist... Not to abolish them, but Art at the heart of life forces us to assess its destructive effect on its environment.

To create like the creator god, here meaning to reduce one's footprint, to forgo certain performances. This implies It also involves rethinking the materials used. What are we doing here in the middle of a field? What remains when the show is over?

The public, too, is not external to this reflection. They are not simply consumers of events, but a sensitive presence, integrated into the ecosystem of the place. To come is to accept regulating their presence.

Here, nature is not a backdrop but a fertile constraint that invites us to experiment with another way of creating, of to show and to share.

Artist residencies

The Forest of the Wild Children is an atypical residency space with its own constraints and freedoms. Artists are invited to inhabit the space temporarily, to listen to it, to engage with it.

The forest becomes a demanding creative partner.
What She allows counts as much as what She refuses.
She is the one who dictates the rules of the community.
It is She who breathes in and out the curves of light in the branches of the trees.
It is She who...

L'Os à Moelle
The oldest cabaret in Brussels

A partner theatre serves as a space for translation between two worlds, between outside and inside, between countryside and city, between natural and constructed stage, with two fascinating long-standing stories. Each event organized by these two companions is a unique moment, a rare gem emerging from the edge of the woods, offered for a fleeting instant, then returned to silence.

And what a partner for The Theatre of Branches than this cellar with its indefinable charm, nestled beneath Jacques Brel's birthplace, which has always been committed to opening its doors to artists from all walks of life. Singers, actors, comedians—many have graced the cabaret's stage! Jacques Brel, Barbara, Toots Thielemans, Arno, Philippe Lafontaine, Pierre Richard, François Pirette, Maurane, Marc Herman, Jacques Higelin, Machiavel (to name just a few!) preceded the young talents of the Belgian and international scene.

More than 65 years after its opening, l'Os à Moelle offers a proud program every year: concerts, plays, improvisation shows, comedians, cabaret, young audiences and leisure activities of all kinds!
A wide variety of activities, all of which tend towards the same objective: to offer a constantly renewed audience quality shows, imbued with poetry, audacity, revolt and conviviality.
